The Scotland National Entitlement Card (NEC) is valid for travel on ScotRail services, including the Glasgow to Gourock route, which operates within the Strathclyde area.<\/p>\n

For eligible individuals aged 60 and over, and those with a disability (excluding blind persons), the NEC provides reduced fares on ScotRail services within the Strathclyde area. As of September 1, 2025, concessionary rail fares will be one-third off the standard operator fare on eligible ScotRail services; prior to this, a 50% discount on Anytime rail fares applied.<\/p>\n

Peak time restrictions apply to NEC holders aged 60 and over, meaning passes are not valid on trains scheduled to depart between 06:00 and 09:00 and between 16:30 and 18:00, Monday to Friday. An exception is made for travel to hospital appointments during these hours, with written proof required. Disabled cardholders are not subject to these peak time restrictions.<\/p>\n

Holders of a Blind Persons or Blind Person Companion National Entitlement Card are entitled to free rail travel in standard class across Scotland, with no time restrictions.<\/p>\n

Young Scot National Entitlement Card holders (aged 16-18, or up to 25 for full-time volunteers) can receive 1\/3 off most rail fares or 50% off Season Tickets, with a minimum fare of \u00a312 for travel before 10 am Monday-Friday (excluding July, August, or season
