Love at first sight: A Peak District proposal story that will melt your heart

There’s something magical about the Peak District that captures hearts – and sometimes it captures them so completely that love stories unfold right before our eyes.

We’re absolutely thrilled to share the heart-warming tale of Ant and Kerry, whose romantic journey aboard the Peak Sightseer led to an unforgettable marriage proposal with one of England’s most stunning backdrops.

A YouTube adventure becomes a love story

Ant Daykin, a popular social media influencer with nearly 35,000 followers on his Trekking Exploration YouTube channel, knows the Peak District like the back of his hand.

He’s spent countless hours exploring hidden gems and sharing the region’s natural beauty with his audience. But this particular journey was different – this time, he had a secret mission.

I use public transport quite often – a great deal are Stagecoach services – as I create videos for YouTube and social-media about walks and lost history. We travelled on the Sightseer twice last year, and since February I had the idea of proposing at the Mam Tor turning circle.

I kept waiting for news that they would be running again and put my plan into action. It was a very nervous climb up Winnats Pass, sat upstairs knowing what I intended to do.

The Peak Sightseer has become a favourite of ours and that is the perfect spot to do it. I even said to her we would get one of the buses for the wedding!

The Blue Route offers equally stunning scenery with stops including Chatsworth House, Baslow Nether End for Baslow Edge walks, Longshaw Lodge for exploring Padley Gorge and the Longshaw Estate, historic Castleton with its medieval Peveril Castle, and the famous Blue John Cavern – all leading to the magnificent Mam Tor where Ant’s proposal took place.
