Brighton seafront and beyond: explore the south coast by bus, ditching the car for a relaxed adventure
Brighton’s seafront buzzes with energy, and it’s incredibly easy to explore car-free. Think bracing sea air, the iconic pier, and a vibrant mix of shops, cafes and attractions stretching along the coast. Don’t just stick to the city centre, though – a quick hop on a local bus will whisk you along the scenic coastal road.
Head east to Rottingdean, a charming village with its picturesque pond and Kipling Gardens. Or, in the other direction, explore Hove’s elegant Regency architecture and quieter beach.
Without worrying about parking, you’re free to explore at your own pace. Stroll along the promenade, grab fish and chips, and maybe even catch a ride on the Volks Railway, the world’s oldest operating electric railway.
Beyond the beach, regular bus services connect Brighton to the rolling hills of the South Downs National Park. Pack a picnic and enjoy panoramic views of the coast from Devil’s Dyke, or explore the charming village of Ditchling, nestled at the foot of the Downs.
Travelling by bus allows you to appreciate the beauty of the landscape unfolding outside your window, making the journey just as memorable as the destination.
