The Coaster 11X bus route operates seasonally, with services running during the Spring for Easter Bank Holidays and then extending through the summer months. In 2024, the service operated on Sundays and Public Holidays from March 29th to April 1st, and resumed from June 9th until September 22nd. This “South Downs explorer” route typically offers three journeys per day in each direction between Brighton and Eastbourne, connecting passengers to popular attractions inland.

Booking a specific seat to travel on the Coaster 11X service is not possible. You can purchase your ticket directly on the bus using cash or contactless payment methods. Alternatively, you can buy mobile tickets via the Brighton & Hove Buses app for convenience. Various multi-day or network passes, such as citySAVER and networkSAVER, are also available for frequent travellers.

Concessions & free bus passes
Concessionary passes are accepted on Coaster 11X.
Accepted concessionary bus passes: ENCTS (English National Concessionary Travel Scheme).
English National Concessionary Travel Scheme (ENCTS) passes are accepted. For Brighton & Hove residents, free travel in the city area is not available on Mondays to Fridays between 04:00 and 09:00. If the journey starts outside the city (e.g., Lewes), free travel is not available until 09:30. For other residents (non-Brighton & Hove) with ENCTS passes, free travel is not available between 23:00 and 09:30 on Mondays to Fridays. There are no time restrictions for ENCTS passes at weekends and on Bank Holidays. East Sussex Freedom tickets are valid throughout the route, however, credit-card style Freedom tickets are not valid during school holidays.
