Toon Tour - Hop-on, hop-off open top tour around Newcastle & Gateshead

Welcome to the award-winning Newcastle Gateshead Toon Tour, the hop-on hop-off open-top city tour bus.

The Toon Tour runs from 3rd May until 28th September 2025 from 10am until 5pm. Toon Tour doesn’t operate every day, please check the timetable to plan your journey in advance.

Departing from Newcastle Central Station, it runs hourly apart from during the school summer holidays where it will run up to every 30 minutes.

Toon Tour takes you on an audio-guided tour, voiced by much-loved Hits Radio presenters Steve and Karen, of Newcastle & Gateshead, including the iconic Tyne Bridge, trendy Ouseburn, stunning Quayside, and the legendary St. James’ Park.

All Toon Tour tickets are valid for 24-hours once activated and you can hop on & hop off at any stop along the route!

As well as purchasing in advance, you can also buy your ticket on the day from your Toon Tour driver, using cash or contactless.

If you show your Toon Tour driver a valid Go North East ticket, you can travel for the discounted rate. 

Concessionary passes can’t be used on the Toon Tour, but show your pass to travel at the GNE discounted rate of £8.

Toon Tour route and stops

The Toon Tour will begin at Stop C at Central Station in Newcastle, serving stops on a circular route which takes in some of the finest sights around the city!

These sights include Discovery Museum, St James’ Park, Great North Museum, Ouseburn, Quayside, Millennium Bridge, Tyne Bridge, Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art, Grey’s Monument, Grey Street and Newcastle Castle.

Customers can hop-on and hop-off at any stop along the route.
