English National Concessionary Travel Scheme (ENCTS) passes are accepted on the Cross Pennine 685 route. These passes are generally valid for free travel on local bus services anywhere in England between 09:30 and 23:00 on weekdays, and all day at weekends and bank holidays. Westmorland and Furness Council, covering part of the route in Cumbria, confirms fare-less bus travel for pass holders between 9:30 AM and 11:30 PM daily until March 2026.
