Concessions & free bus passes

Buxton Line does not accept concessionary bus passes.

You can not use your concessionary bus pass to travel on Buxton Line. There are other great value tickets available for you.

Concessionary passes such as the Welsh concessionary bus pass, Scotland National Entitlement Card, Northern Irish 60+ SmartPass, and Northern Irish 65+ Senior SmartPass are generally not valid for rail travel in England, where the Buxton Line operates. The London Freedom Pass is explicitly stated as not valid on train services operated by Northern. While the English National Concessionary Travel Scheme (ENCTS) passes are primarily for bus travel in England, their validity on rail services varies by local authority and operator. There is no general acceptance of ENCTS passes for free travel on Northern services across its network, including the Buxton Line, with specific rail offers for ENCTS holders being limited to particular regions and lines (e.g., West Yorkshire Metro ENCTS on Settle-Carlisle and Leeds-Morecambe lines).
