No advanced booking: just turn up and go!

Booking a specific seat on the Island Line is not possible as seat reservations are unavailable for this service. However, you can easily purchase your travel tickets through various channels: online via the South Western Railway website or app, at ticket offices located at Ryde Esplanade or Shanklin stations, from self-service ticket machines, or directly on board the train. Buying tickets online or through the app is often the most convenient option.

Concessions & free bus passes

Concessionary passes are accepted on Island Line.

Accepted concessionary bus passes: ENCTS (English National Concessionary Travel Scheme).

Only English National Concessionary Travel Scheme (ENCTS) passes issued by the Isle of Wight Council on the grounds of disability are valid for free travel on Island Line services at any time. The Isle of Wight Council's 'New Islander Card' (for those with severe and enduring mental health conditions or requiring a travelling companion) is also accepted for free travel on Island Line services at any time. Age-related ENCTS passes, and concessionary passes from Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland, and London (Freedom Pass), are not valid for travel on the Island Line.
