Coastliner 36 along with routes 34 and 35, will take you to an amazing variety of places, traditional seaside resorts like Hunstanton, beautiful villages such as Burnham Market, and lavish grand houses like Holkham Hall.
North Norfolk is also famous for its natural beauty and wildlife. You can visit nature reserves like RSPB Titchwell Marsh, where you will see wild salt marshes and sand dunes as well as many species of birds. At Hunstanton, why not take a boat trip and get up close to the seals that visit this part of our coast.
There are many other wonderful attractions that are on this route or just a short walk away.
King’s Lynn was one of England’s most important ports from as early as the 12th century and its maritime history is very much a part of its tradition. One of its finest landmarks is the 300 year old Custom House which overlooks the historical harbour.
The town has an amazing array of historic buildings including the Town Hall, with its unique chequerboard facade.
Be sure to visit True’s Yard Fisherfolk Museum, with its beautifully restored cottages, that recreate faithfully, the lives of King’s Lynn’s fisherfolk.
Enjoy a visit to the Sea Life Sanctuary, a state-of-the-art marine aquarium, where visitors are taken on a memorable undersea adventure filled with amazing encounters with sea creatures of breathtaking variety. And while you’re here, meet the friendly team of Rainforest Rangers who will show you some of their jungle beasties and creepy crawlies.
Why not take one of the Seal Safari & Sea Tours, an exiting and educational boat trip, or enjoy a coastal journey in an amphibious vehicle. The Wash Monsters trips depart from the Central Promenade.
With a sandy beach and glorious marshland, this is a truly wonderful place to view our feathered friends and really feel at one with nature.
Whether you are into your birdwatching or simply enjoy looking over fresh water reedbeds, salt marshes, lagoons and sand dunes you will find a very accessible site.
The wildlife on the reserve changes with the seasons – from orchids, dragonflies, butterflies and marsh harriers in the summer to great flocks of geese, waders and other migratory birds in the winter.
There is a shop and café where you can buy gifts and enjoy refreshments.
Built in the Palladian style, Holkham Hall is one of the most spectacular stately homes in England. Its vast entrance hall, with towering columns and alabaster panelling, is one of the finest examples of its type, taking its inspiration from the wonders of classical Rome.
Within its grounds is a lake with a wonderful nature trail and a herd of fallow deer. There is also a great shop and café if a gift or refreshments are needed.
Wells is one of the most attractive towns on the North Norfolk Coast. It has a long sweeping beach whilst behind lay attractive pine woodland.
Walk along the gentle harbour with its small fishing boats, where children can fish for crabs. Or stroll along Staithe Street, with its many local shops, then to the tree-lined park with its fine Georgian houses, quiet pubs and restaurants.
