Booking is recommended, but not essential.

Booking your Red Funnel ferry in advance is highly recommended, especially if you are travelling with a vehicle, to guarantee your space and secure the best rates. Foot passengers also have the option to purchase tickets at the terminal, including via ticket machines for out-of-hours travel. Online bookings can be made up to 90 minutes before departure, and telephone bookings up to 30 minutes before sailing.

Concessions & free bus passes

Red Funnel does not accept concessionary bus passes.

You can not use your concessionary bus pass to travel on Red Funnel. There are other great value tickets available for you.

Red Funnel offers a 'Concessionary discount' of 25% for eligible customers traveling as foot passengers or with a vehicle. Eligibility for this discount requires presentation of a valid Blue Badge Card, Access Card, or Disabled Persons Railcard. Senior citizen discounts are also available for foot passengers purchasing tickets on departure. Additionally, an 'Assisted Fares Scheme' is offered to eligible Isle of Wight residents receiving certain benefits, providing fixed return fares for car or foot passengers. However, there is no explicit mention of the acceptance of ENCTS, Welsh concessionary bus passes, Scotland National Entitlement Card, Northern Irish 60+/65+ SmartPasses, or the London Freedom Pass.
