Citylink 978 - Edinburgh, Stirling & Crainlarich to Oban

Scottish Citylink’s route 978 offers a scenic journey through some of Scotland’s most breath-taking landscapes, connecting Edinburgh with the west coast town of Oban.

The route begins in Edinburgh, Scotland’s vibrant capital, known for its historic and cultural treasures. As the coach departs the city, it heads northwest towards Stirling, a town steeped in history, with its iconic castle perched majestically above.

Leaving Stirling, the journey continues into the heart of the Trossachs National Park, passing through rolling hills and wooded glens. The route skirts the tranquil waters of Loch Lubnaig, where the rugged beauty of the Highlands begins to unfold.

The loch’s reflective surface, flanked by towering mountains, offers a peaceful and picturesque vista, providing passengers with a true taste of Scotland’s natural splendour.

The coach then ascends towards Crianlarich, a small but significant village often regarded as a gateway to the Highlands. Surrounded by mountains, Crianlarich is a hub for hikers and outdoor enthusiasts, with routes leading off towards Ben More and other peaks.

From Crianlarich, the journey continues westward, crossing into Argyll and Bute. Passengers are treated to views of expansive moorlands and the distant peaks of the Grampian Mountains. The route passes through Dalmally, a quaint village nestled in Glenorchy, before descending towards the coast.

The final leg of the journey takes the coach through lush glens and along the shores of Loch Awe, the longest freshwater loch in Scotland, before arriving in Oban.

This bustling port town, known as the “Gateway to the Isles,” is renowned for its seafood and stunning views over the Inner Hebrides.

The journey on Citylink 978 offers an unforgettable experience, blending historic landmarks with the natural beauty of Scotland’s landscapes.
