For payment, you can use the convenient Tap on Tap off contactless system with your bank card or device, which automatically calculates the best fare for your journeys. Alternatively, you can purchase paper tickets directly from the driver using contactless payment or cash, or buy various digital tickets, including day, weekly, and multi-day passes, via the Southern Vectis mobile app.

Concessionary passes are accepted on 5 Newport | East Cowes.
Accepted concessionary bus passes: ENCTS (English National Concessionary Travel Scheme).
English National Concessionary Travel Scheme (ENCTS) passes are accepted for free travel on Southern Vectis bus services, including route 5. Travel is free between 9:30 am and 11 pm Monday to Friday, and at any time on weekends and bank holidays. Island residents holding an English National Disabled Pass or an Isle of Wight Council Gold or Silver New Islander Card may also travel free at peak times on any day on network buses. Concessionary bus passes issued in Wales, Scotland, or Northern Ireland are not accepted. Concessionary passes are not valid for free travel on Island Breezer Buses (Downs and Needles Breezer, Island Coaster, and Shanklin Shuttle buses), but Route 5 is not one of these services.
