Book your journey
on Metropolitan line to Chesham

No advanced booking: just turn up and go!

The Metropolitan line, like all London Underground services, operates on a 'turn up and go' basis. You do not need to book a seat to travel, and it is not possible to do so. Passengers can pay using a contactless bank card or device, an Oyster card, or by purchasing single/return paper tickets or a Travelcard at the station. It is generally cheaper to use contactless or an Oyster card for pay-as-you-go travel.

Concessions & free bus passes

Concessionary passes are accepted on Metropolitan line to Chesham.

Accepted concessionary bus passes: London Freedom pass.

The London Freedom Pass (both Older Person's and Disabled Person's versions) is valid for travel on the Metropolitan line. Older Person's Freedom Pass holders cannot use their pass between 04:30 and 09:00 on weekdays, but can travel free at all other times, including weekends and bank holidays. Disabled Person's Freedom Pass holders can travel free at any time. However, Freedom Passes are not valid on train services beyond the London Travelcard Zones, specifically not beyond Amersham on the Metropolitan line. This means the pass is not valid for the full route to Chesham. English National Concessionary Travel Scheme (ENCTS) passes issued by councils outside London are not valid on London Underground services (including the Metropolitan line); they are only valid on London buses.
